Mrs. Johnnie Mae Rutledge Ford
Johnnie Mae Rutledge Ford entered into eternal rest on April 23, 2018. She was the daughter of James Rutledge and Retha Rideau Phillips. Johnnie Mae “Bonnie” entered into eternal rest at the age of 78 years old. “Bonnie” attended Gregory Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School. She moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she raised her children and grandchildren. She later attended Vocational Technical School, where she received her LVN license. She made her first communion at an early age and was christened at St. Anne DeBeaupre Catholic Church and on August 15, 2004 she joined Northwest Community Baptist Church (affectionately known as The Community Of Faith) under the leadership of Bishop James Dixon II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Rutledge and Retha Rideau Phillips; one grandchild, Clarice Ford; two great grandchildren, Jared Taylor Jr. and Ja’Nae Burleson; one great great grandchild, Royce Yarber and one niece, Retha Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories, seven children, Cheryl Burleson, Stephanie Burleson, Kevin Phillips, Felicia Burleson, Peter Ford Sr., Jacki Benitez and Jocelyn Ford; one son-in-law, Kerry L. Haskett; fifteen grandchildren, Leo Bennett, Maurice Bennett, Jared Taylor, Jason Taylor, Jamond Burleson (Terresa), Larry Jackson (La’Teesha), Joseph Barlow Jr. (G.G.), Gabrielle Griffin, Jevonah Dominic, Peter Ford Jr., Chelsea Phillip, Jevon Dial, Charles, Jamia and Faith Moore; twenty-four great grandchildren, JaCorey, Ca’ Corian, De’Andre, JaShae Burleson, Jamond Jr., Jaz’Mon (Brandon), Jacori, Jaden, Leosha (Tyrone), Terrell (DeDe), Joshua (Angela), Maurche (Richard), Jaresha, Jerrica, Journay, Jace, De’Vonte’ (Vahaira), Justin Sr., Jaylan, Jayla (Khaalis), JaLea, Giana, Joseph III and Jacob; fourteen great great grandchildren, Terrell Jr., Ja’Niyah, DeAndre Jr., Alayah, Justin Jr., Brooklyn, Jeremiah, Mia, Noah, Alijah, Khamiri, Ayden, Grayson and Baby Ava; two sisters, Patricia Gee (Rivers) of Oakland, California and Beverly Johnson; a special godson, Homer; a special goddaughter, Mary Kennerson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends and one grand doggie “Casino”.
